Sharing is caring!
There is something remarkably transporting about a wedding at Sound View Greenport. The way the sun sets across the Long Island Sound feels almost surreal, and the soundtrack of gentle waves creates a sense of calm that does not feel like New York at all. When paired with a talented DJ who knows how to transition the night from serene ceremony to energetic dance floor, the result is a truly memorable wedding experience.
On June 28, 2025, TCM DJ Events had the pleasure of providing entertainment for Heather and Kevin at Sound View Greenport. Behind the decks that night was DJ Ozzy, who brought a confident understanding of how to read the room and support a diverse group of guests with varying tastes and energy levels. The entire day unfolded with an easy elegance that was supported by the venue, the vendor team, and the couple’s vision for an intimate beach-inspired celebration.
A Venue That Feels Like a Getaway
For couples considering Sound View Greenport, the first thing they tend to notice is the view. The venue sits directly along the Long Island Sound, creating an unobstructed waterfront backdrop that stretches for miles. It feels a bit like stepping into another state, where coastal living and slow-paced relaxation take over from the moment you walk in.
Many guests comment that Sound View Greenport does not feel like the typical Long Island wedding venue. It offers space but not excess, luxury without pretense, and a serenity that comes from its proximity to the water. At sunset, when the sky shifts into warm oranges and deep blues, the scene feels cinematic without any additional effort from decor or lighting.
Modern Minimal Rustic Design Meets Nightlife Capability
One of the most compelling aspects of Sound View Greenport is its interior design. The venue features a modern minimal rustic aesthetic with natural wood textures, clean architectural lines, and large windows overlooking the water. The space feels warm and inviting while also being visually restrained, allowing flowers, lighting, and personal touches to stand out naturally.
From a production standpoint, Sound View is highly adaptable. Daytime events benefit from natural light and ocean views, which creates an airy and organic feel during ceremonies and cocktail hours. Once the sun sets, lighting adjustments and intentional music programming can transform the room into a lively nightlife environment without compromising its relaxed coastal identity.
The Couple: Heather & Kevin
Heather and Kevin approached their wedding with clarity around the atmosphere they wanted to create. It would be intimate, casual, coastal, and built around friends and family who genuinely love to dance. Heather shared this vision in her initial inquiry, and her message offered a glimpse of her personality and priorities for the day.
She wrote:
“I’m from Long Island but live in LA now with my partner. I’m an OBGYN and he’s an engineer. A friend of mine had a woman DJ at her bachelorette party and it was the best time, made me sad I’d never had one before! Would love to hire a woman DJ for our wedding. Plan is a casual intimate beach vibe, but with friends who love to dance. I also love to dance but am recovering from knee surgery now, so come our wedding i’ll be very excited to get back out there. Thank you for your time!”
Her request for a woman DJ was thoughtful and intentional. Female representation in the DJ industry is still limited, especially in private event markets, and many brides are delighted to discover that TCM DJ Events has a roster that includes talented female DJs with professional range and crowd awareness.
DJ Ozzy has been with TCM DJ Events for years, and she excels in environments where music taste is broad and guests come ready to participate. She is versatile across genres such as pop, hip hop, Latin, house, disco, throwbacks, and international music, which allows her to balance a crowd made up of multiple age groups and cultural backgrounds. Her strongest skill is her ability to observe the room closely and make adjustments in real time, which elevates the guest experience and creates a cohesive musical story across the evening.
For Heather and Kevin’s wedding, Ozzy curated a ceremony and cocktail hour that supported the couple’s laid-back coastal theme. The ceremony featured a discreet sound system with wireless microphones to ensure clarity without visual distraction, allowing the water and natural scenery to remain the focal point. Cocktail hour incorporated indie-pop selections, warm soul influences, and light tropical undertones, which helped ease guests into conversation and movement while maintaining the waterfront atmosphere.
Dinner, Atmosphere, and the Transition to Dancing
Dinner service tends to introduce a natural shift in wedding energy. Guests begin with conversation and observation, and slowly build toward participation and celebration. Ozzy’s programming during dinner reflected this gradual rise in tempo and familiarity, using tracks from artists such as Dua Lipa, Justin Timberlake, and Fleetwood Mac remixes to keep the room engaged without overpowering the dining experience. By the time speeches concluded, the room felt ready for a coordinated transition to open dancing.
When the dance floor opened, Ozzy timed her selections to the energy already present rather than forcing a moment too early. This resulted in an immediate and enthusiastic response. Guests filled the floor quickly, and Heather joined with noticeable excitement, ready to fully enjoy the night after recovering from knee surgery in the months prior. These kinds of personal and emotional returns to dancing are often the moments guests remember most.
A Dance Floor Anchored by Diversity and Flow
Once the dance floor was active, Ozzy maintained momentum with a blend of genres that appealed across generations and backgrounds. She incorporated pop hits, hip hop classics, Latin rhythms, 90s and 2000s nostalgia tracks, and contemporary crowd-pleasers. Each transition was purposeful and paced to maintain density on the floor, which is a hallmark of strong wedding DJ performance. The room felt energetic without feeling frantic, and guests remained engaged until the very end of the evening.
From a technical standpoint, Sound View Greenport supports strong dance floor momentum due to its open interior layout. There are no obstructive architectural features that break up the room, and guests can easily move between indoor and outdoor spaces without losing connection to the music. This contributes to a cohesive flow that makes weddings feel socially fluid rather than fragmented.
A Vendor Team That Enhanced the Day
Weddings are most successful when the vendor team communicates well and shares a common approach to hospitality. For Heather and Kevin’s wedding, we worked alongside an excellent group of professionals who helped shape the day’s timeline, visual narrative, and guest experience.
Photography was provided by @lanarowephoto, whose work highlights natural light, candid expression, and the scenic coastal environment. Her ability to capture the glow of sunset along the Sound added an undeniable richness to the couple’s wedding gallery, and her presence throughout the day was relaxed, supportive, and unobtrusive.
Planning and coordination were led by @cynthiarossevents, who managed details with clarity and attention. She ensured that transitions happened on time, that the couple was never rushed, and that vendors had the information they needed to perform their roles effectively. A strong planner is often the difference between a wedding that feels hectic and a wedding that feels seamless.
Part of the Long Island Wedding Community
Although Heather now lives in Los Angeles, her choice to get married on Long Island spoke to her personal history and love for the area. As a company, TCM DJ Events is proud to be part of that local wedding ecosystem and actively participates in the @thebridesoflongisland community. Brides of Long Island serves as both a resource and a gathering space for couples planning weddings in the region, offering trusted vendor recommendations, planning support, and a sense of shared experience.
Being part of this community reinforces our belief that weddings are not only events but also cultural and social milestones that deserve supportive and professional partners. It connects us to real couples, real stories, and real celebrations across Long Island and the greater tri-state region.
