Sharing is caring!

Let’s face it, when it come to weddings it’s all about THE dress!

As owner and DJ at TCM DJ Events I wanted to give some fun shopping tips for brides to be while at the same time sharing some of my favorite first dance song selections for newlyweds on their special day. I thought to myself, what if there was something like rent the run way for wedding dresses? So I did a quick internet search and I found a website called Coco Melody which has an online store where you can order wedding dresses to try on at home! Here are some perks to trying on wedding dresses at home.

PERKS TO TRYING ON WEDDING DRESSES AT HOME

  • Try on alone before showing it to anyone else, ex. your bestie
  • Order up to 3 wedding dress samples
  • Listen to possible first dance song choices while you try on dresses
  • You have 3 days rather than one day at a store to try them on

You might be thinking to yourself, is this too good to be true? Well, there is one catch. The dresses cost $25 per dress. Truthfully, I still think that is a good deal considering you don’t have to get in your car or the train to go try them on. Coco Melody also makes it super easy to return them. Their packaging is convenient and the box comes with a pre paid fed ex label. So the process is pretty seamless and painless. If you don’t believe me, just look at me below wearing my best #1 dress out of 3 in my living room.

As I tried on these dresses I was listening to some of my favorite first dance song choices for newlyweds. Being a DJ for 20 years and studying music my entire life, I would like to think I’m an authority on song selection. It’s not just that I think I have good taste, which I do. It’s that DJ’s like myself get to see what really works on the dance floor not to mention we also listen to more music than most. If you are looking for the perfect DJ for your wedding, look no further and find out about our wedding packages here.

THREE OF MY BEST FIRST DANCE SONG CHOICES AND WHY:

  • I Want to Thank You by Alicia Myers
  • True by Spandau Ballet
  • Robarte un Beso by Carlos Vives & Sebastian Yatra

“I want to Thank You” by Alicia Myers is one of the most perfect R&B songs ever. The words are so fitting for this first dance song choice since anyone who has struggled to find love will relate to them. Struggling to find that perfect match and to then finally find that perfect partner is the essence of this song. As if any love or person is perfect, but to thrive in those imperfections is what makes a perfect match in my book. The rhythm and tempo of the song make it possible to slow dance and get your groove on during this first dance choice.

“True” by Spandau Ballet is one of those classic 80’s slow jams everyone loves and remembers. This first dance song choice is a memorable one for anyone who watched the movie “Sixteen Candles”. Therefore, making this first dance song choice an iconic one.

“Robarte un Beso” by Carlos Vives & Sebestian Yatra was all the rage last summer. This song also encapsulates true love found during the summer months. As a first dance song choice, it is definitely a brave one since a choreographed dance should be considered. Latin vibes are so the ticket when it comes to weddings regardless of cultural backgrounds. I DJ’d a Korean wedding once and all they wanted to hear was latin music. Latin tunes are a crowd pleaser even if there isn’t one LatinX person in sight!

So there you have it, some of my favorite first dance song choices. Not to mention I found a dress that I would seriously consider wearing at my own wedding. As a New Yorker, I am all about killing two birds with one stone. So why not try it? Get your wedding dress to try on at home from Coco Melody’s online store while you listen to some first dance song options.
