Latin Music Trends
When it comes to wedding receptions, latin weddings are my favorite. Perhaps I’m biased since I’m a New Yorker with South American roots. These days though I don’t think I’m the only one who feels this way. The reason for this is that latin music has crossed into the mainstream. For example, I DJ’d a Korean wedding where the groom only wanted to hear Bad Bunny. Seriously, it was reggaeton all night!
Whether it’s salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia or reggaeton, you are bound to hear a latin jam at anyone’s wedding. Not just at a latin wedding! For this reason I created our top 100 songs for a latin wedding reception. Check out our playlist below!
The Classics
The playlist above has many classics on it. The reason I picked out so many is that nothing gets the party started at a wedding like an oldie. When the party first gets going you want all generations on the dance floor, not just the young adults. That’s why a seasoned DJ knows to start with a salsa or merengue classic before getting into today’s top 40 hits.
Today's Hits
With latin pop hits from Shakira, J. Balvin, Bad Bunny, Cardi B, Ozuna, Daddy Yankee, etc. you can literally play an all latin pop set for the duration of your wedding. That said, it’s not a wise choice since you need to break up your dance sets with different genres to keep everyone dancing. Whether you play disco, hip hop or 80’s in between those latin sets is a sure way to keep your dance floor packed!
