How I Made 10k From One Blog Post For My DJ Services

Sharing is caring!

When you think of starting a DJ company the last thing you are probably thinking about is starting a blog.  Well, if you had told me 24 years ago that one blog post would make me 10k for my DJ services, I might have started one that day!

Most DJs are just thinking about their Instagram or Tik Tok accounts and how to build their brand through socials.  While this isn’t a wrong approach, it’s not always the most lucrative.

Blog vs. Instagram

I definitely receive more inquiries for my DJ services from my blogging efforts than through my instagram page.  I also find that my blog posts have a lot more longevity than my instagram posts.

So how did I make 10k from one blog post?  Well, I used the right keywords for my niche for starters.

Zone In On Your Niche

As a female DJ I suppose I have an advantage since we are still only 19% of the DJ market.  So it’s still considered a novelty which creates a niche within a niche.

Back in 2020 I spent time working on my website and blog since it was the pandemic and there was nothing else to do

How Often Should You Blog

I was writing anywhere between one blog post to two per week.  My aim was not to make money off my blog through affiliate marketing or advertisement.  My goal was to attract the right clients for my private events DJ Agency.

So I wrote a blog about the female DJs in my agency who DJ private events.  Those were my keywords.  You can check out my blog here if you want to see my actual post.

Two years later I received an inquiry for a female DJ for a Primark Store Opening in Long Island.  I gave my quote and honestly didn’t think I would get the gig.  Lucky me, I did and that store opening gig was 5k.

Fast forward a few months later and they had another store opening which they called me for.  This event would also be around 5k.

Below is an instagram post of the second store opening event.

And just like that I got a repeat client who will call my company for their store openings in the NYC tri-state area. All because they found my blog post about female DJs.

So if you have a DJ company or any other type of service based business, know that you too can write blogs that can attract your ideal client.
